Robert Downey Jr. fans only have to wait a few more days before Iron Man 2 hits theatres. The actor is so excited about all the possibilities available for his character moving forward.
“If you look at the Marvel Comics, there are so many interesting characters and relationships,” Downey points out. “For instance, we only scratched the surface of Tony’s relationship with Pepper [Potts, played by Gwyneth Paltrow] in the first film. And Samuel L. Jackson’s character will become more central.”
The sequel picks up 6 months after the last movie left off where "Tony Stark is being pressured by the military to reveal the secrets of the Iron Man". Robert thinks that sets his movie apart from other comic based films.
"We set ourselves up for this one by having Tony say he was Iron Man last time,” Downey says. “So you have a story at the end of which you give away the trump card that usually every other franchise doesn’t. And I think we got a lot of brownie points for that because it was somewhat unexpected.”
