Avengers (2012) movie: Set and Hellicarrier Details from the Licensing Summit

Marvel Studios held a "Licensing Summit" at the Avengers movie set for over 100 specially invited guests that promote, and are related to, pushing their products.
One company in particular, Upper Deck, who puts out various move licensed trading cards, posted a blog about it -- which has since been taken down.
However, it's still cached on google.
There's really nothing that important, imo, that should have caused it to be taken down -- just mention of the Hellicarrier looking pretty awesome and some of the cast.
Check it out:

On Wednesday we were on the actual set of the film and there was a lot going on. Marvel shared that it was the biggest set they had ever built and when we stepped on the bridge of the Avengers Helicarrier, we realized they were very serious. It was like the bridge of The Star Trek Enterprise on steroids, just amazing to behold.

We were not alone at this event as we joined with more than 100 licensees and potential licensees of Marvel with representatives from companies like Hasbro, LEGO, THQ, Disney and many more. As a die-hard fan of The Avengers, I wanted to snap some pictures so bad with my phone, but Marvel wasn’t going to have any of that. Anyone caught sneaking a photo would be quickly escorted from the premises and I didn’t want to miss any of this so my phone stayed in my pocket.

We got to check out some rough cuts of the film (which looked AMAZING by the way) and talk about how we can make the most of all our marketing efforts for this franchise. We are really excited about the opportunities with The Avengers to say the least and we have seen solid interest in our Iron Man and Thor trading cards so far. We expect to see the same with our Captain America product when that launches in June.

One of the biggest thrills was when the cast assembled for only their second public appearance since Comic-Con. Some of the actors were in costume like Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow). They were busy filming that day, but took some time out to visit with us which was really awesome.

Lastly, I can share that we now know who The Avengers will be battling with in this summer blockbuster, but for now, our lips are sealed. Any guesses as to who you think it might be?
The Avengers hits May 4th, 2012 and is directed by Joss Whedon, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

The Avengers visual effects VFX!

As you probably know better than me The Avenger shooting keep going on these months, but does your curiosity stop there, at the shooting? Don't you wanna know who's behind the visual effects that made possible the impossible?
Yes, I know, this would probably tell you nothing, a name like another one. But what if I say that this is The Academy Award-winning motion picture visual effects company?
This company made the VFX of many big movies including: Harry Potter, Pirates of Caribbean, StarWars and Indiana Jones saga, Iron Man 1-2, Jurassic Park, Mission Impossible:I and III, The Mummy... just to write someone.
If you wanna know more about it follow this link:

The Avenger set: 2 new photos!

Robert Downey, Jr. to Receive American Cinematheque Award

Robert Downey Jr. will receive the 25th American Cinematheque Award.
He will be presented with the award at the group’s annual benefit gala Oct. 14 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel's International Ballroom in Beverly Hills.

"The American Cinematheque is extremely pleased to honor Robert Downey, Jr. .as the 25th recipient of the American Cinematheque award at our celebration this year," American Cinematheque Board chairman Rick Nicita said in a statement Thursday. "The pleasure that we receive from his charismatic and nuanced performances is matched only by the respect that he has earned for his personal and professional journey. The wide range of his talent has kept us enthralled in movies from a biopic like Chaplin to outrageous comedies like Tropic Thunder to franchises like Sherlock Holmes and, of course, Iron Man. While we have been enjoying him for years, it seems that he's just getting started all over again. The Cinematheque is thrilled to mark this milestone in the flourishing career of Robert Downey, Jr."

Filming on The Avengers not delayed

Filming on The Avengers has not stopped according to Marvel bosses.
The highly-anticipated movie, starring Jackson as Nick Fury, Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans as Captain America, has started shooting in New Mexico.
The film was thrown into jeopardy after several pages of Jackson's script were stolen in Burbank, California earlier this week (01May11) - allegedly shutting down production until writers could come up with new scenes.
However, a representative from Marvel, the studio in charge of the movie, has denied there are troubles on the set, saying, "Filming on The Avengers is on schedule and going well."
Marvel movies are already going well at the box office with Thor scoring a number one hit in both the U.S. and the UK - Captain America: The First Avenger is released later this summer.
The Avengers is set for a May 2012 release.

A cameo for Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts in Avengers?

This weekend Gwyneth Paltrow confirmed, unsurprisingly, her involvement in Iron Man 3, but more interestingly hinted at a possible cameo in Joss Whedon's The Avengers, which recently began shooting.

"I'll possibly be very briefly in The Avengers," Paltrow told the BBC's Something for the Weekend, quickly adding, "Maybe, we'll see."

The Avengers is already crowded with supporting characters - Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, Cobie Smulders's Maria Hill, and of course, Clark Gregg's ubiquitous Agent Coulson - but the inclusion of Paltrow's Pepper Potts, when considered, makes a lot of sense. In Iron Man 2, Potts was promoted from Tony Stark's long-suffering secretary to the acting CEO of Stark Industries. Who better to liaise with Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. on how best to handle Robert Downey, Jr.'s incorrigible Stark?
